Sanctuary Chapel of Nuestra Señora de los Santos
The Sanctuary Chapel of Nuestra Señora de los Santos (Sanctuary Chapel of Our Lady of Saints) is located approximately 5 kilomenters from the andalusian town of Alcala de los Gazules, at the beginning of The Droving Paths of La Janda.
Originating fourteenth century chapel and one of the most popular religious monument in the region. Highlights include a beautiful courtyard with pots and tiles, as well as the collection of votive offerings hung on the walls of the main nave.
The sanctuary has a small chapel or only one nave with camarin where is the Virgin.
The camarin was completed by the mason Pedro Jose Iglesias. It is octagonal dome half, decorated with colorfull painted wood and mirrors, topped by a breaking sky on the divine dove hangs. The image of the Virgin has unknown origin.
The interior is accessed by crossing a lovely patio wheree there is a small shop where you can buy beautiful memories of the sanctuary. The Chapel has a rectangular plant, covered with a barrel vault and topped by a small presbytery, covered by a semicircular dome on pendant, wich overlook the paintings that cover the walls of the Sanctuary.
