Almogía

The village of Almogía is in the Montes de Malaga (Malaga mountains), bordered to the north by the Antequera region and to the west by the Guadalhorce Valley. The town is at an altitude of 363 metres above sea level and is 25 miles from Malaga city. Average annual rainfall does not exceed 600 l / m 2 and the average temperature is 16.4 º C

Almogía has a beautiful natural environment where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Mount of Santi Petri, and Tajo La Rambla . Admire the monuments and enjoy the food in the local restaurants, with dishes such as chanfaina (see gastronomy). You can rent horses and bikes to take the path to the shrine of the three crosses and the route of Santi Petri.

The origions of  Almogía are remote, remains of some prehistoric rock paintings have been found in caves in the municipality, also remains of the Roman presence have been found in various parts of the town, and under Muslim rule the current population centred around the castle, unfortunately there only remains remnants of the main tower, the tower of the candle.
