Aracena – Santo Domingo Church

The Santo Domingo Churh is located at the Santo Domingo Square, in the Andalusian town of Aracena, province of Huelva.

This Gothic – Mudejar style temple (15th century) has three naves with equilateral pointed arches and an alfiz (Moorish panel). The quadrangular  plan apse is covered by a chanfered dome and decorated with murals from the 16th century.

The present-day church was part of a Dominican convent founded at the end of the 16th century. The only part left  of the convent is the temple and some remains wich are hidden by the nearby houses.

After its restoration at the end of the 20th century, Santo Domingo Church is used for cultural purposes.
