Benameji – Medieval Bridge

The Medieval Bridge  over the Genil River is located in the N-331, just outside the town of Benamejí, shortly after passing through the Fuente de los Caños (Fountain) and few minutes from the Gomez Arias Castle.

It is a 16th century bridge, designed and executed by the architect Hernán Ruiz II, who saves the course of the Genil River following the old road of Antequera. Commissioned by Diego de Bermuy to Hernán Ruiz II in 1550, the works are completed in 1566 (as inscribed in the central key).
