Buitreras Dam

The Buitreras Dam is located on the river Guadiaro, Guadiaro Valley, in the municipality of Cortes de la Frontera and just few minutes from the Cañada del Real Tesoro, in the province of Málaga.

Purpose

A) Electricity Supply (Central Eléctrica de Las Buitreras)

B) Transfer Guadiaro – Majaceite (The water ends at Los Hurones Reservoir from where supplies part of the province of Cadiz).

The transfer Guadiaro – Majaceite came in to operation for the first time on the 27th of November 2000. The entrance gate is locate in the municipality of Cortes de la Frontera wich connets with the Majaceite river basin throught a tunnel 12125 m of lenght and with a inner diameter of 4,20 m.
