Burdalo Dam and Reservoir

Burdalo Dam is located about 4600 meters upstream of the Canal de Orellana aqueduct, on the bed of Burdalo River, immediately downstream of the confluence of the Burdalillo with Burdalo in the municipality of Escurial.

Burdalo Dam is built into the hydraulic system of the Zona Centro de Extremadura (Central Zone of Extremadura) and its purpose is to regulate the contributions of Burdalo River and flood control.

Burdalo is a gravity dam with straight plant and vibrated concrete floor. It has a crest elevation of 319 meters, a height from foundations of 35,5 meters anda a crest lenght of 768 meters.

Burdalo Dam has a front spillway with fixed lip attached to the dam by the left abutment.

The Burdalo Reservoir belong to the Cuenca Hidrográfica del Guadiana (Guadiana River Basin) and has a capacity of 79,3 hm3.
