The Cartama Castle is located in the Monte de la Virgen (Mount of the Virgin), where the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios is also located and where it is possible to be enjoyed some impressive panoramic views as much of the locality of Cártama as of surrounding environment.
The Cerro de la Ermita Castle is a good example of Andalusian settlement on a previous settlement. It occupies the summit of a hill that dominates the town of Cártama to the south. The castle plant adapts precisely to contour lines. Some canvases of the fortress have been preserved in irregular masonry. The nearby hermitage is historically related to the fortress.
