Cornalvo Dam and Reservoir

Cornalvo Dam is located in the Albarregas riverbed, about 15 km from Mérida, Cornalvo Natural Park, Badajoz, Extremadura.

The dam is made of homogeneous loose materials, it is made of large granite ashlars reinforced with lime mortar with rims and red clays rammed.

The dam has a crown lenght of 200 meters and a height from foundations of 24 meters.

The Cornalvo Dam is a Roman building that was used to supply water to part of the city of Augusta Emerita.

The dam is dated to 130 AD and the reservoir is still used today.

The Cornalvo Reservoir has a capacity of approximately 3.13 Hm3.
