Cortes de la Frontera – Cuatro Chorros Fountain
Cuatro Chorros Fountain
The Cuatro Chorros Fountain is located in the heart of the town of Cortes de la Frontera, on C/ Real (street), halfway between the Bullring and the Church of Ntra. Sra. del Rosario, a few meters from the Valdenebro Chapel & House.
Belonging to the Andalusian Mediterranean Basin, the structure of the building has a large front wall ornamented with baroque motifs, which is topped by a belfry witha gabled roof in which tere is an image of the Virgin. From the part of the wall that is adonred with tiles, the four bronze pipes that give the fountain its name stad out. The ceramic tiles represent the town´s coat of arms.
Despite the age of the fountain, it is suspected that its current appearance is due to a reconstruction, possibly carried out in the middle of the last century.
The locals call it: “The Source of all life”.
