El Sillo Dam and Reservoir – Charca de la Piedra
El Sillo Dam was built on the bed of the Arroyo del Sillo in 1987, in the municipality of Higuera la Real, province of Badajoz, Extremadura.
Gravity dam with a height from foundations of 22 meters and a crest lenght of 81 meters.
The Sill Reservoir has a capacity of 0,6 hm3 and belongs to the Guadiana River Basin (Cuenca Hidrográfica del Guadiana). Its basin covers an area of 177 km2 with an average annual contribution of 46 hm3.
Arroyo del Sillo makes natural limit on some stretches between Andalusia and Extremadura. Born in the municipality of Fuentes de León at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and empties into the Múrtigas River.
