El Pintado Dam was built in 1948 on the bed of the Viar River, in the Andalusian municipality of Cazalla de la Sierra, province of Sevilla, Spain.

Gravity dam type with straight plant, with a height from foundations of 87 meters and a crest lenght of 406 meters.

El Pintado Reservoir belong to the Guadalquivir River Basin and has a capacity of 213 hm3.

    El 90% del agua embalsada en el Embalse del Pintado es de Extremadura,recoje agua de los terminos municipales de Monesterio, Montemolin, Fuente de Canto, Bienvenida, Llerena, Pallares, Trasierra, Puebla del Maestre, Reina, Fuente del Arco, Santamaría de Nava, y el 88% del Embalse del Pintado esta dentro de la comunidad autonoma de Extremadura.
