Estrella Castle – Teba
The Estrella Castle is located in the Andalusian municipality of Teba.
Located on a limestone hill at 640 meters above sea level, with important ravines on its south face. It dominates all the cerealista countryside that is situated between the Guadalteba Valley and the Turon River.
The outer grounds of the fort occupy over 25000 m2, making it one of the largest medieval military fortresses in the province of Malaga.
It had aat least sixteen raised towers, three gates and a large fortress, all of them adapted to the natural forms of the rock. Its oldest building dates back to the 13th century, although it was reinforced by the Castilians from its inception in 1330. Since the 15th century it was the seat of Teba County.
At present the Alcazar of the Teba Castle contains the Interpretation Center “A Crusade in the Guadalteba”.
