The town of Fuengirola can be found in the eastern part of the Costa del Sol, bordering the towns of Mijas and Benalmádena. The town is 27 kilometres from the capital of the province and 8km from Mijas. The average annual rainfall is 570 l/m2 and the average temperature is 18 º C.

The municipal area of Fuengirola is the smallest of the province and is reduced to the coastal strip occupied by the Fuengirola itself and the neighborhood of Santa Fe de Los Boliches, extending along the seven km. of coastline all having excellent beaches.
Although its origin seems to date back to the Phoenician era, it was in the Arab period when, for reasons of defense, they built the Sohail Castle, which still retains some of its walls.
