Garza Dam and Reservoir

The Garza Dam was built in 1990 on the bed of the San Juan River, in the municipality of Oliva de Merida, province of Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain.

Garza is an homogeneous loose materials dam, has a height from foundations of 17 meters and a crest lenght of 168 meters with a fixed lip spillway.

The Garza Reservoir belong to the Cuenca Hidrográfica del Guadiana (Guadiana River Basin) and has a capacity of 4,3 hm3. Its basin has a surface of 148 km2 with a annual average contribution of 18 hm3 and annual average rainfall of 545 mm.
