Sala de la Compañia

The Sala de la Compañia is located in the Compañía Square, in the locality of Jerez de la Frontera.

This building, one a church belonging to the Jesuit Society, has since been converted into a multi-functional event hall where the Jerez Cultural Institute regularly hosts flamenco performances.

The hall is fully equipped with the most modern technological advances and has acoustic qualities which make it perfect for medium sized events such as those so typical in the flamenco world.

The square in which it stands leads directly into the calle Francos, en route to Santiago.

About Jerez de la Frontera

The municipality of Jerez de la Frontera is located in the northern half of the province of Cádiz. Its territory extends from the northern area, on the provincial border with Seville, to the eastern end, which borders the province of Malaga, including both land located in the lower course of the Guadalete River, as well as others near the first foothills of the Sierra de Grazalema. The eastern sector of the term is included in the scope of the Alcornocales Natural Park. Jerez has a radio-concentric plan, a logical consequence of its location on a hill during the Muslim period and its character as a crossroads. The central core of the city is made up of the old Arab medina (with the typical layout of intricate streets and small, irregular blocks) and the extramural expansions (16th century) of the suburbs of San Miguel (to the southeast of the historic center) and Santiago ( To the northeast). This “central nucleus” has subsequently been left in a somewhat off-center position towards the southeast, as the most modern growths have taken place mainly in the north and east. Read more…
