Jubrique – Armona Fountain

The Armona Fountain is located in C/ María Zambrano with C/ Neruda (streets), in the highest part of the town of Jubrique, next to the track that goes to Faraján.

This public fountain, situated on the road to Faraján, uses the water from a nearby spring. Although it was originally an important point for the supply of water for domestic use, today its manin value is ornamental.

As it´s in the highest part of the village we can, from the la Chapota viewing point, enjoy spectacular views of the deep valley cut by the River Monardilla.

Fountains like this one, generally situated at the entrances to the villages, had an important role in basic infrastructure, until the supply of running water reached the houses. They were also an important place for social interactio and business between the locals an passers-through, such as mule and cattle drivers, who would bring their animals to the fountains to let them drink.
