Of Roman origin, beautiful, white and elegant, on the whole it is a very attractive place and an example of Huelvan baroque. Among its monuments of interest, are highlights such as the Church of S. Juan Bautista, the Church of Ntra. Sra. del Valle, the Church of los Carmelitas, the Calle Mayor (High Street) and the Plaza de España.

During the Roman period it was very near to the present site of the town Olea Notum Palma.

From the period of Al-Andalus we have the tower of the Church of the Valley, which was an outpost watchtower of the Kingdoms of Niebla and Seville, and there are also the remains of a nearby fort.

The Christian conquest was carried out by King Alfonso X, who was awarded a number of privileges.

It belonged for some time to the county of Niebla.

During the War of Independence the achievements of local heroine Marimarcos were highlighted, and in 1811 a decisive battle against the French took place in the area.

In 1935 la Palma del Condado achieved the rank of city.
