Our Lady of the Asuncion Parish Church – Lora del Río

Our Lady of the Asunción Parish Church is located at the Ntra. Sra. de Setefilla Square, in Lora del Río, just few minutes from the Town Hall and the Culture House.

It is one of the most beautiful corners of the town where this square serves as the frame of the Major Church of the locality, a gothic-mudejar building that started to be constructed in the 15^th century over the ancient mosque and ending its last reform in the 19^th century, stage that coincides with the construction of the present Tower, an emblematic sign of our locality.

The main altarpiece comes from the Convent of the “Merced” and it can be dated from the middle on the 18^th century, being modern the images placed in it. Its interior holds worthy works of sculpture, paint and gold work.

The Parish preserves an excellent collection of gold work that extends from the medieval age until our days.
