Shrine of Our Lady of Setefilla – Lora del Río

The Shrine of Our Lady of Setefilla is located in the road that take you from the town of Lora del Río to La Puebla de los Infantes, just few minutes before you get to the José Torán Reservoir and just few meters from the Setefilla Castle.

This is a Mudejar building from the fifteenth century that was rebuilt during the eighteenth century, it is devoted to the twon´s patron saint. The themple has three naves, separated by pillars and covered with wood structures. The mayor chapel has a domed section with scallops and a barrel vaulted with hall-moom windows. The church has two facades, one on the foot wall and another in the Epistle´s nave. The high altar (from 1730) presents a single body with stipites and spiral columns, and it is topoed by and attic.

In addition to the main image of Our Lady of Setefilla we can see images of Saint Mary of Egypt and Saint Joseph in the altar. A statue of St. Anthony of Padua (17th Century) is on the altar´s left side, now moved to the foot of the nave. A collection of “Vitores” is distributed along the church´s walls.
