Los Molares – Santa Marta Parish Church
Santa Marta Marta Parish Church
The Santa Marta Parish Church takes its name from the patron Saint of the municipality, Santa Marta, and is a Mudejar construction which was reformed at the end of the 18th century.
It is situated at the south western part of the castle walls and has a ground plan in the shape of a Latin cross. The nave is covered by a wooden coffered ceiling, and the tower, at the end of the nave, is decorated with renaissance motifs. It has four bells, the most unusual of which dates back to the 17th century and is called the “Santa Maria”.
Notable amongst its religious images is one of Santa Clara from the middle of the 17th century which is to be found in the chapel of the Sacrarium.
