San Nicolas de Tolentino Chapel – San Agustín Chapel
The San Nicolas de Tolentino Chapel in the town of Luque is popularly known as the Chapel of St Augustine.
It is located in the lowest part of Luque, expansion area town, a few meters fromt the Civil Clock Tower and the Chapel of Aurora.
Erected by the Augustinian friars, the religious temple is a baroque building from the XVIII century. The chapel has a latin cross plan with a facade of great sobriety. The ship is divided into three sections by arches on pilasters and a molded cornice line runs through the interior that scope mounts, covered with barrel vaults with lunettes, except in the central section of the cruise, this takes a dome pendentives decorated with rich plasterwork.
Inside, the Chapel of St. Augustine keeps Expiry of Christ, Cristo del Silencio known to leave on Easter procession of the same name. It is a four-christ nails with small perizoma and slightly bowed his head to one side. The size is correct and well crafted features, being dated to the seventeenth century.
