Miel Watchtower – Nerja
The Miel Watchtower (Torre de la Miel) is located between the town of Nerja and Almuñecar. On the N-340, shortly after passing the Maro Watchtower and before reaching Pino Watchtower, next to the Alberquillas Beach (Playa de las Alberquillas).
The Miel Watchtower is located just few meters from the water, on unstable ground and very attacked by the sea. This circumstance has caused the almos complete destruction of the tower, from which it can hardly bear a canvas of its walls.
It is a tower built in the eighteenth century with modifications introduced in the nineteenth century (accesss staircase). It would have the double function of serveillance and fefense with artillery.
The tower has a frustoconical base and a cylindrical upper body.
