Path of Mojon de la Vibora

This route runs along the Royal Path of Mojon de la Vibora, through the Natural Parks of Los Alcornocales and Sierra de Grazalema; it´s a muddy land, which features areas of olive trees, Holm oaks, cork trees and Algerian oak, where we can find Old man´s beard ( clematis vitalba), oleander, broom, hawthorn and other species. It acts as a frontier for many species of animals, and at the same plays an important role in migratory movements. Particularly important in the area are deer, roe deer, genets, otters, weasels, badgers and mongooses. It is also home to birds like kingfishers, thrushes, African stonechats, robins, grey wagtails, as well as birds of prey like lesser kestrels, peregrine falcons, short-toed eagles and owls.

Reptiles are also important, with communities of Spanish pond turtles, skinks, ocellated lizards, large pasammodromi, Montpellier snakes, and natrices maurae, among others. The main species of amphibians are common toads, natter jack toads, common green frogs and Mediterranean tree frogs.
