Nuestra Señora de la Asunción Church

Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion Church is located in the monumental center of Priego de Córdoba, near the Castle.

A Gothic-Mudejar temple from the XVI century, remodelled in the Baroque style in the XVIII century.

The main altarpiece is Renaissance style.

The Sacrarium is one of the masterpieces of the Spanish Baroque period; a stone Reinassance façade carved on the side.

The tower dates from 1541, it is considered a national monument.

Its construction began in 1525, at the request of the Marchioness of Priego. Gothic-Mudejar building with three naves from the 16th century, with pointed arches on octagonal pillars, finished by a decorated Mudejar roof that is still preserved under the baroque vault from the 18th century. The Puerta de Santa Ana, in Plateresque style, is attributed to Martín de Bolívar, an artist from the Siloé circle. The grille of the main door dates from 1575 and the tower from 1541. Already in the 17th century the numerous side chapels were built, such as that of Cristo de los Parrillas, completed in 1636, the image of Christ is attributed to Alonso de Mena, dating from around 1635.

The main altarpiece of the late Renaissance stands out. Its distribution is based on a bench and three bodies topped by an attic, divided from top to bottom by three streets and four entrecalles on a different plane that was assembled in 1567. Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion Church of Priego de PriegoIts authorship is unknown, as is the figurine and its place of origin. The paintings are by Pedro de Raxis and Ginés López.

The current temple is the result of the remodeling carried out between 1743 and 1747, which consisted of hiding the old coffered ceilings with groin vaults, giving the complex an oval dome in front of the presbytery. The old Gothic arches were hidden under the semicircular arches and the new decoration used abundant plasterwork and moldings. The author of this great work was Jerónimo Sánchez de Rueda.

Eglise Notre-Dame de l'Assomption - Priego de Córdoba - 12/06/2011 Temple gothique mudéjar du XVIème siègle. Le maître retable date de la fin de la Renissance. Le Tabernacle, l´un des chefs-d´oeuvre du baroque espagnol, est consideré Monument National despuis 1932. Beau portain de la Renaissance en pierre taillé.

La Tour est de 1541, et elle est déclarée monument national.
