Los Arenales – Puente Genil

Los Arenales village is located just minutes from the town of Puente Genil, bordering Aguilar de la Frontera municipality.

Its name comes from the sandy soil in which the village is situated.

Although most of the buildings are of the twentith century this area snce ancient times has been a fertile area for growing grapes and olives, and believed the Romans who built a flagship villa in this place where water, climate and tierra is a privileged place of peace and tranquility.

Of special interest is visiting the village during his pilgrimage in honor of the patron María Auxiliadora de las Arenas and be captivated by the Laguna Amarga and the Roman town of Fuente Alamo.

Puente Genil

It is located in the Southwest of the province, bordering the Sevillian town of Herrera. It is part of the Campiña Alta, but the most unique feature from the geographical point of view is the passage of the river Genil through its terminus, an artery that also crosses the town.

This water course has had implications for these lands since ancient times, as it went from being the boundary between two towns, Miragenil and La Puente de Don Gonzalo, belonging to the provinces of Seville and Córdoba respectively, to being a link between them in 1834. Read more…
