Torre de la Sal – Torre Salto de la Mora (Watchtower)

The Torre de la Sal or Torre Salto de la Mora (Watchtower) is located in the Andalusian municipality of Casares, Málaga province, between the Manilva River and the Arroyo de Camarate, on the beach and is accessed from the N340, passing La Perla Urbanization.

This watchtower has two floors and is square. It is known the XVI century where appears in the official integrated marine towers.

Today (11/12/2009) , the Torre de la Sal has been restored.

Protection: Under the protection of the generic Declaration of the Decree of April 22, 1949 and Law 16/1985 about the Spanish Histical Heritage. In 1993 the Junta de Andalucía gave special recognition to the castles of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

Casares Municipality

Casares is located in the extreme south-west of the province of Malaga, in the region known as Costa del Sol Occidental.

It extends over the last southern folds of the Serranía de Ronda, which is an extension of it, and to the eastern edge of the Campo de Gibraltar. Read more…

It is located at 38º 26’34” North latitude and 1º 35’05” West longitude, with an altitude above sea level of 435 m. and average slopes of 23%. The municipality has a total extension of 162.24 Km2.

    A día de hoy (11/12/09), la Torre de la Sal ha sido restaurada y “adecentado” su entorno con vistas a un posible uso turístico y cultural del monumento.
