Trail Pico de la Concha
Trail Pico de la Concha PR-A 135 – Istán
The Trail Pico de la Concha is undoubtedly the star attraction of all the walks you can do in Istán. It is a though walk, of an undeniable mountainneering nature challenging even for the boldest, not only because of its difficulty but because of the orienteering skills required if the Sierra Blanca becomes covered in clouds or fog or if the weather turns bad. To accept this challenge you should therefore be physically fit, have good mountain orienteering skills and, most importantly, experience. Remember, the summit is only the half-way mark. You still have to get back down.
The route begins on the footpath that is behind the water tank. As is logical, walk up the footpath. There is no other footpath, so to begin with at least, there is no chance of confusion at thes point. The first thing you will come across is the col that takes you to El Picacho, and them a seccession of mountain passes: Currito, Ventana, Gilito, Cienfuentes and Corralillos. Eventually you reach the Cepillo del Enebro, where with your strength fading fast you begin heading west to reach the summit of La Concha.
