Villanueva del Ariscal

The little town of Villanueva del Ariscal is located in the western sector of the province of Seville, belonging to the region of Aljarafe.

It seems that its origin dates from the Roman age.
During Al-Andalus period it was a farmhouse.
In 1253 the Christian conquest took place and it was given the Order of Santiago in the person of its Master D. Pelayo Correa.
From the late XIV century until 1831it was administrative and judicial centre of the villas belonging to the Order of Santiago in the Aljarafe.

How to get there

You have to exit Sevilla. In the area around Camas, take: E-1 / A-49 towards Camas – Huelva – A-49. Pass near Camas. Take the exit towards: Salida 4 / 3 – Castilleja de la Cuesta – Ginés – Bormujos. In Castilleja de la Cuesta, at the roundabout, take the salida 3 and follow: A-472 towards Huelva. Then cross Ginés and continue until you get to the town.
